Launching of Wrist Couture
Article from Star Online:
FASHION is no longer confined to just clothes, even watches stand out with adornments and Wrist Couture showcased some of its finest collection during its first private viewing at Sky Bar, Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur recently.
Names like Harry Winston, Hublot, Krieger, Linde Werdelin, Sarcar Geneve, U-Boat and Vergo Avius took centre stage at the event.
About 60 high-end and collectors’ timepieces ranging from RM15,000 to RM800,000 were showcased. Wrist Couture aims to fulfil collectors’ need for exquisite, rare and unique pieces.
The people behind Wrist Couture are local TV personality Nurul Alis Aidil Akhbar and her husband James Mitchell. This is an extension of the already established Alis Mitchell Watch Me, which carries brands like Alessandro Baldieri, Bethge & Sohne, Fromanteel and Welder.
Wrist Couture creative director Nurul Alis said they had over RM5mil worth of watches displayed from seven exclusive makers.
She said they believe that finding the right watch takes time and they worked closely with their clients to find the exact piece.
“We provide highly personalised and private services for collectors of fine timepieces,” she said.
Meanwhile, managing director Mitchell said they wanted to be out of the ordinary in the watch market.
“We don’t want our clients to wear what others are wearing. When you wear rare pieces, it is about statement and our clients know what they have is couture.
“Most of the watches are automatic or manual while some are quartz,” he said.
At the event, the new Vergo Avius Leonardo, a high-tech Formula 1 inspired watch was launched. It combines the craftsmanship of Italian designers and the precision of Swiss watch makers.
Private viewings are available at two exclusive galleries, La Casa del Habano at Mandarin Oriental Hotel and The Mines Golf and Country Club.
